Kathleen Gorman

Biography

Kathleen has worked in the fields of trauma, mental health and addictions, and domestic and sexual violence for 38+ years with Indigenous families and communities, government, and non-profit agencies. Areas of focus include vicarious trauma, intergenerational trauma, and supporting agencies to develop trauma- informed service delivery approaches. She has presented on many topics including trauma-informed practices and impacts of colonization. She is an MSW in clinical practice, a Certified Trauma Treatment Specialist and a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. Kathleen is a sessional instructor for the University of Calgary SW Faculty and a SW field coordinator/sessional at Grant MacEwan University and provides individual/group counselling at Aboriginal Counseling Services Association.
